Mike has built numerous custom steel tables for the home and patio. He has utilized a variety of stocks ranging from lightweight square and rectangular tube, to solid stocks and flat bar; and made many pieces with tempered glass panels for tops, as well as table bases for hardwood and stone slabs. 

      The artist draws upon his background in sculpture to build pieces intended to be works of fine art, intending on them to have weight and presence in their intended setting.   Ideally creating work that can enhance by effortlessly blending in, or takes the role of focal point if desired.

     As noted in the Artist Bio., Mike leans towards building 'modernist' style furniture and art, striving to be efficient and beautiful in the simplicity of the design. Whether a piece is ultimately finished in a costume power coated color or ends up wearing a sealed 'natural patina', he labors to have his joints look seamless and appear to be factory built, concealing all evidence of welding and tooling.
     While this appearance can be achieved with mass production, what sets Mike's work apart is his usage of high quality materials and finishes, often many times heavier than the typical factory made products, as well as his dedicated attention to detail and high level of craftsmanship.

     He also tries to incorporate materials that best suit the space they will inhabit. Often larger tables call for a glass top to give off a lighter appearance and/or showcase a client's rug or flooring. 
     In some cases, an industrial look is desired; and Mike goes with a solid bar and a 'stained' oil finish.  He has worked with several local carpenters to build custom bases for, and fabricated his own hardwood tops in the past.          
     He has also made pieces with leather, granite and marble  for table tops for clients who preferred to go with those options. 

 
   Most of the featured tables in these sections  were custom built for past clients and decorators in the Santa Fe area, but some items may be available and new commissions are always considered.
