SMALL ARCHITECTURAL PIECES, PUBLIC DISPLAYS, and OTHER WORKS

The final grouping highlights some larger scale works including steel and glass enclosures that were used to display art exhibitions, sculptural pieces used in public installations, and also more basic architectural features that utilized steel's inherent strength to create structurally sound and visually minimal braces to support robes and overhangs.

Mike has collaborated with local designers and artists to realize their goals in building custom works of art.  He has fabricated portable glass and metal structures for one installation artist who needed to be able to quickly install on site at the Texas State Fairgrounds, a large frame to securely enclose his sculptures and also allowed him easy access in and out of the 24' x44' x20' H steel and glass 'box' that featured multiple card stacked structures, some of the 14' tall.
That box was such a success, that same artist commissioned Mike to build a similar but smaller piece out of stainless steel for another one of his exhibitions that was on display at Citizen's Field in Philadelphia.

Mike has also partnered up with drsigners and contractors in other states to create custom steel pieces to be used in public areas.
He worked with an architect out of Boston to fabricate a large steel armillary that was installed in the architect's monument, which was a 3 dimensional structure that symbolized the flag of Portugal. This piece served as a memorial to fallen Portuguese/American soldiers at the RI Veteran's Cemetery in Exeter, RI.

There are some images here of a set of large semi-circular park benches that the artist fabricated for a contractor designing courtyard for a cemetery in Tyler, TX.

In addition to the larger scale projects listed above, Mike has fabricated some architectural fixtures that can be seen around the downtown Santa Fe, such as the custom lighted stair nosing inside the front entrance to the historic La Fonda Hotel on the plaza, and a custom powder coated store sign, in front of V&R interiors nearby
